Juliana's Lineage.

Juliana's family tree, dating back to her great-great grandparents. I've become fascinated by genealogy and my family tree and I've found a ton of information on my ancestors, lots of which are quite interesting.

Many of the names of Laura's and my ancestry are common names for western NC/Catawba Valley region. Tracing back both of our lineages brings up names such as Abernathy, Starnes, Poovey, Triplett, Sherrill, Benfield, Hickman, Storie, Stewart, Haas and Birchfield. All ancestors I have been able to trace all predate the Revolutionary War on both sides, making Juliana a true "all-American" girl. Her ancestors include many Revolutionary War veterans, like "Captain" Adam Sherrill, who settled on the shores of the Catawba River in a place known today as Sherrill's Ford. A man named William Triplett fought for the cause of American freedom up until his death from disease in an Army Camp at Hanging Rock, NC along with two of his sons, but not before having other children. Two of those children, Jesse F. Triplett and Thomas Triplett bore families which eventually led to both Laura and I through our mothers, making my wife my sixth cousin, once removed.

I've gained a tremendous sense of belonging in researching my extended families' pre-revolutionary roots in the Catawba area, something I hope to pass on to Juliana and my other future children. As we all hope to be remembered long after our passing, I wish to continue the legacy of the hundreds of people's lives which unfolded in just a particular way to allow me to be who I am, where I am, when I am.
